This exhibit showcases nine housing designs that focus on the communal aspects of housing. Expanding on defining medium-scale shared spaces, these nine housing proposals sees architecture as an active participant in shaping communal living and defining the neighbourhood of Lantau Tomorrow. Shown here together as a housing estate, the nine designs suggests new possibilities of a Hong Kong neighbourhood that is defined by housing – How will we live with each other? What are the spaces that defines us as a community in Hong Kong?

This exhibit encapsulates the research undertaken by a group of Master of Architecture Students at the Chinese University of Hong Kong over one academic year. The studio, titled – Won’t you be my neighbour? – interrogates the architecture that defines us as a collective and imagines new possibilities of Hong Kong neighbourhoods through housing. This is a year-long research design studio co-taught by Simon Hsu and Clover Lee.
