Man Made Nature
Date: 10.SEPT.22 - 26.NOV.22
Time: 11:00am - 8:00pm
Place: Cafe Pier 7, Star Ferry Pier, Central

Artificial structures and the natural environment seem to be an incompatible combination. As human activities are progressively altering the world in the epoch of the Anthropocene, the pursuit of natural integrity looks more like a naive and futile attempt. However, we are aware that the idea of nature has been continually interpreted anew by human intelligence and so we believe that the concept of artificiality can also be redefined by engaged dialogue and close collaboration. We suggest that these collaborative efforts, with the strategic mobilization of stakeholders, can help all the participants improve their own practices and even widen their epistemological scope. In this exhibition, we want to use the Plum Tree Creek as an example, showing how a constructive partnership could enhance the information transparency, reassure the community cohesion, and also make the consultation become a learning process for all the participants.

EXHIBITOR
ChChCh

ChChCh is a spontaneous group formed by two individuals who worked in the Bamboo Curtain Studio and later joined by its deputy director. Thanks to Chune-Shan Chang’s arrangement, they have the opportunity share with audiences in Hong Kong their personal observation of a stream flowing by the outskirts of Taipei. While showing Taiwanese people’s new approach of managing rivers, they also want to pursue social and ecological aspirations started by Margaret Shiu and Mali Wu.
